About

New American Paintings was founded in 1993 as an experiment in art publishing, at a time when opportunities for emerging artists to gain recognition were scarce. In that landscape, the publication quickly established itself as a leading platform dedicated to showcasing emerging and under-recognized artists.
Each museum-quality issue features the work of forty carefully selected painters. Thousands of artists submit to our competitions annually, yet only a small number are chosen through a rigorous jurying process. We collaborate with respected curators to identify artists whose work merits broader visibility. In order to minimize bias, our selection process is, and will always be, blind.
New American Paintings serves both artists and audiences. Selected artists gain international exposure, while collectors, art professionals, and enthusiasts are offered a valuable resource for discovering new talent. To date, the publication has featured more than six thousand artists, many of whom have gone on to achieve significant commercial and critical success.
Distinct from other art publications, New American Paintings does not favor any particular style or follow art-world trends. The focus remains on the work itself—not the rhetoric—on talent rather than reputation.
