Artist Statement
Working with an abstract language that is both architectural
and anthropomorphic, I make paintings that are associative,
self-referential, and psychological. I’m often thinking of nature
and the built environment, drawing references from plant life,
fungi, insects, entrances, stages, and mechanisms. I’m interested
in creating images that are confrontational, intentionally
ordered, and uncooperative, as well as inviting, visually sound,
and thin-skinned.
