Artist Statement
My drawings are based on land and water and the forces which affect and change them. For me, drawing is about making the invisible visible, creating complex multi-layered images that are both additive and subtractive. I depict changes to land through cultivation, industrialization, and natural forces. Most recently I have been drawing the effects of water on land, depicting it in its many ramifications: as transparent scrim, as solid dense object, as architectural space, as mapping device, and as destructive force. The drawings are intricate tapestries containing vast webs of information. The work interprets non-specific places through drawn images and explosions of information involving juxtapositions of images of varied scale and multiple perspectives.
