Artist Statement
I am interested in the skin that defines built spaces. Unmaintained, the surface is usually the first element to succumb to weather, leaving the structure bare. So many of the places we inhabit today are built with and understood by their skins, and in some instances, the wear of these surfaces creates instant ruins. This is an issue of construction, craftsmanship, taste, and cultural trends that trickles down into the most intimate of settings: the home. Through a longing to achieve an ideal or model, we find ourselves generating obsolete spaces almost as quickly as they are constructed.
