Artist Statement

I’m most interested in disrupting the familiar, combining images of objects most commonly found in domestic spaces and decontextualizing and repurposing them in my compositions. On the surface of my paintings I often adhere photographs of sofas, light switch plates, pedestal sinks, and televisions, surrounding them with fields of paint to formulate alternative meanings and interactive environments. My intention is to provoke a mental deconstruction, a decoding of visual language that will illuminate how we go about making ourselves and assembling our identities.
