Artist Statement
My work hinges upon an awareness of material and process that I develop through experimentation and play in the studio. My work draws out and elaborates upon the tension between the given and the chosen, both in its conceptualization and in the materials selected. Pulling from different art historical moments, including German Romanticism and Minimalism, my work makes connections between seemingly distant forms, adding layers of context to my paintings and sculptures.
