Artist Statement
In this series, my intention is to translate the world around
me into surreal, highly graphic scenes that remain enigmatic
yet emit true reflections of the intricacies of modern life. These
large-format paintings deliver aggressively sexual images with
sharp-edged outlines and a decisively punk flair.
A repetition of geometric patterning combined with seductive
and soft hues abstracts and diffuses the blunt erotic imagery
presented in these works. Disembodied legs are spread wide, and
emanating architectural forms are suggestive of phallic towers
and/or potent yonic sexual energy. Spiraling sea shells, bananas,
and blossoming flowers are recontextualized into urgent emblems
of the fluidity of human desire in our contemporary digital age.
