Artist Statement

Rigdon’s work weaves personal history with ancient Cypriot-inspired vessels and replicas of artifacts looted by Luigi Palma di Cesnola, now housed in institutions like The Met and The British Museum. Through these pieces, she explores parallels between her life and the island, her father and Cesnola, and her investigative practice and the audience.

Each work, considered a self-portrait, spans from 2021 to the present. The intricacy of her drawings and ceramics invites viewers into her personal world as she navigates themes of romance, permanence, and mortality within the context of her aging family and body.
