Artist Statement

Mistake, chance, destruction, and change play important roles in the creation of my work. I am fascinated by those same elements in life as well. Autobiographical incidents, the random wanderings of the mind, daily thoughts, events, morality and ethical issues all influence my creative process, manifesting themselves in the resulting imagery.

Most recently, I have been using correction fluid in an ongoing series of drawings/paintings. I appreciate the irony of creating a beautiful piece with material generally used for covering one’s mistakes and remaining invisible. Many of these I consider to be portraits, not always of specific people, but certain types of people. Some are about events or emotions, containing layered personal symbols of sexual, spiritual and pharmacological transformation and re-birth.
