Artist Statement

I use the island form to paint people, animals, plants, architecture, mechanical objects, portraits and landscapes simultaneously. The openess of the islands creates a space for freedom and contradiction. I want the expansiveness of these images to continually generate surprise. I want the world in the paintings to come apart and rebuild itself the way the real world does.
