Artist Statement
The allegorical nature of these paintings stems from inner dialogue regarding politics, social criticism, and fantasy. Images from life emerge from a place where the conscious self cannot process. My work assembles the unresolved issues of conflict that I contemplate. Concerns for our imminent global and environmental danger are present here. The visual world is my collective thinking. An image can haunt my memory until it materializes in the form of a painting, then and only then am I released from its hold. My work bears the weight of the unbearable emotional response to the events around us. I paint to survive the impact.
