Artist Statement

In this series I aim to achieve a synthesis of nontraditional image transfers, reconstructed line drawings, and collage to describe painting on canvas. Using an ink transfer technique, I deconstruct consumer products into abstract fragments and use painterly effects to build up information in the form of landscapes that embody abstraction and semi-representational consumer landfills. The overall effect results in paintings which reference a disposable culture that is mutating and reforming itself into self-help junkyard battle stations. I act in the gap between the post-consumer attitude and the garbage man artist.
