Artist Statement

My art is full of graphic responses that have been stirred up in one’s soul through music. Many of my experiences an artist can be associated with a song or musical movement. Concentrating on the figure and portrait, I make expressive compositions with a variety of images collaged into a complete illustrative thought. All of the imagery in my work is formulated into a type of collage. Ideas and images manifest themselves through a variety of mediums and materials when I produce my collages. My intent is to engage the viewer and cause them to think about an issue or image. Sometimes the message is obvious, but a second, third, or forth look may be needed to see all of the symbolization represented in a single work. I create with the purpose of always providing my audience with more than the initial perception.
