Artist Statement
I draw tiny worlds filled with rainbow-colored creatures, shapes, and forms. The drawings are populated with robotoids, winged jellyfish, rainbows, stars, isometric grids, perspectival monsters, and volumetric clouds.
While I describe my drawings as “tiny worlds,” they are in fact expansive. They are executed on large scrolls of paper, or grow from one sheet into many tiled pages.
My tiny worlds and the creatures that inhabit them function as stage and props for my depiction of different methods of perspective and projection; I try to find a happy balance between space and flatness.
The forms exist somewhere between ornament and architecture, between glyph and structure.
