Artist Statement
My paintings' vocabulary comes from an urban landscape of graphic signs, commercial architecture, and digital displays. I'm particularly drawn to sites that are compromised or in transition, such as a multi-use storefront, a halfway gentrified neighborhood or a wall that's been repainted one too many times.
I use banal materials and forms that reference the quotidian, yet the work resists legibility or function. The result is a compressed archive of observation, memory and desire.
