Artist Statement
My paintings are intuitive and idiosyncratic.
Imagery develops through improvisation and the accrual of actions, reactions, considerations, and revisions.
I draw on the idioms of modernist abstraction. Still, I try to abandon the function and authority of historical gestures and reimagine the act of painting to suit my needs.
The language I have developed is filled with and emptied of meaning. It is epic in proportion and utterly banal. Nightmarish, perfunctory, funny, and sometimes sweet.
