WestArtist Statement
My work originates from a place somewhere between shared, collective experience and individual existence. The work can be perceived as manifestations of psychological spaces that are particular and yet remain unspecific.
These paintings involve the juxtaposition and manipulation of reappropriated images that are culled from mass media sources. Representational and abstract imagery are combined. Together they provide a reciprocal relationship that creates new imagery which speaks directly to the subconscious.
