Artist Statement
In my paintings, vibrant and jarring fields of color are superimposed through repetitive line patterns to create scintillating, biomorphic interference patterns. Acting directly through visual perception, the paintings provoke physical sensations of movement, disorientation, and discomfort, while opening up an interior, psychological space. Through self-imposed restrictions, systems, and rules, small errors and glitches are amplified, creating conflict. This tension opens up a simultaneity of meaning, and gestures towards the intangible nature of experience.
