Artist Statement
My paintings depict reconstructed environments> There are areas in the paintings where recognizable objects embed, tangle, and wedge together, accumulating and integrating into greater forms. The objects I paint correlate formally by means of application, color, and scale.
I am interested in creating fantastical spaces in which I pull settings or reference material from known platforms. Some of the recognizable imagery within the work references global architecture, phenomena, and news headlines, while other objects are simply there to adorn. The imagery is compiled of numerous components, such as political rally balloons, papel picado, architecture from Dubai, China, and Tibet, water hoses, chandeliers, and barracudas.
