Artist Statement

I have always been interested in trying to identify an expression that suggests both longing and loss. My work has gone through various stages of subject matter: from images of adulthood to images of undefined adolescence.† I'm interested in the adolescent expression of fragile, vulnerability, and their somehow knowing and questioning gaze.

By using a wet in wet watercolor medium I wish to convey the adolescent, transitory state.† Their heads become too large for their small, narrow bodies, their hands too large for their arms.† I attempt to create the dichotomy between ambiguity and focus, and hopefully the more human side of what lies beneath their surface.
