Artist Statement
This recent body of work is titled "junglescape" and combines my interest in both Eastern and Western influences in art traditions. In this work, I explore my fascination with the vitality of living organisms and the continuous drama of nature. I incorporate and manipulate images derived from various life forms such as plants, wood grains and animals, crystallizing these images to form my own fantastical world of imagined biology. These hybrids evoke a natural system in which life forms are given a sense of equality despite their actual importance in hierarchy and reflect the process of continuing hybridization and modification of nature.
