Color is my primary medium. I start each project by developing a ritualized process of what I call “color collecting.” Then, I use these collected colors to create dialogues between viewer and artist, time and place, and past and present. The specific color choices for my collections are based on my consideration for local and social histories, built and natural environments, and the conversations and stories shared among the community. I use these location-based palettes to create dynamic, abstracted representative portraits of a place.

The process of finding, displaying, and calling attention to colors has become a primary way I seek to cultivate empathetic engagement. I make things in many forms, from paintings and experiences with food to site-specific installations and public art activations. No matter the scale or context, I hope to make a lasting impact on people’s perception of the worlds around them.

Amid growing social tensions and extreme injustices, I aim to create spaces for remembering the vital roles that color, nature, and community play in shaping our consciousness and in fostering shared memories.
