Artist Statement
I like to play in the space between painting and sculpture as a way
to enter into, and continue, the exploration of abstract painting.
I hover in a lyrical mode sincerely searching for a state of grace.
Materiality is central to my work. I experiment with “high” and
“low” materials to conjure up fantasies of the past and the future,
making them into physical objects like amulets or charms, albeit
ones that could turn ugly.
For drying purposes, I work on several pieces at the same time.
They look like fast paintings, but the process is slow and intuitive.
