NortheastArtist Statement
These paintings are from a series called Feeling Untethered I Laid Down My Memories and were inspired by holding a photo of myself as a child and trying to remember, in that moment, what I felt like and what I was thinking. I couldn’t remember and I didn’t recognize myself. The feeling was like floating in light and color in a dark and distant galaxy, untethered to the part of me that has words and answers. In these paintings, I attempt to give the sensation of a memory at play. A landscape of dancing, clapping and clacking lyrical forms that nod their heads to music unplayed and words unspoken.
