Artist Statement
Being an artist in suburbia provides me with a wealth of subject, imagery and sounds. I take everyday life and hover between humor and desperation, using phrases that are current to our society. “Let me ax my mother.”
I transform corners of rooms with my deceptive wallpaper designs, hidden text paintings and video, laying bare a suburban world steeped in technology and unwilling to communicate. “Why are you still talking?”
Exploring the domestic scene, I look in on the happenings of my household, in our fast paced, jumbled lives. My work depicts the complexities of life in suburbia and identity in a household. “Why are you still here?”
