Artist Statement

My work results from my reflections and ruminations on the subject of war. I started to reconsider my thoughts on the issue after viewing photographs taken by a friend who served as a US Army medic in both Iraq and Afghanistan. My goal is to generate questions and prompt self-examination about the lingering impact of war on the human experience and psyche. As an abstract condition in contemporary life, war is viewed in many different ways. Wars past and present have a strange rippling effect that continues to be felt for decades, even centuries, to follow.
