I’m attracted to the strangeness of photography, which points to the idiosyncrasies and abstractions in reality that we can’t see. I want my paintings to illuminate the disruptions of photography that govern representation and abstraction. Images acquired from different media sources, such as the Internet, news clippings, and film stills, are put through multiple paint filters that corrode the narrative embedded within them, conflating subculture and normative culture through a mystic lens.
