Artist Statement
I think about mold and fungi, and biology in general. The inner workings of the cellular and the molecular levels excite me. I like the idea of what land mass is as well: cartography of anything is intriguing to me. With a focus on these micro and macro concepts and my interest in music, I direct my love for formal elements and design toward creating artworks that are resonant with rhythm, while expressing themes of vitality and growth. I create new visual organisms and islands. I do so with paint (house, oil, watercolor, and acrylic), paper, steel, and hundreds of tacks, scrapbooking brads, pushpins of all sizes, and various nails and studs.
