Artist Statement

I work primarily with calligraphy brush and sumi ink on watercolor paper. My focus is on the individual, the space they occupy, and sentiment. I am interested in how people carry themselves, how they move when alone or in the company of another. Utilizing serial imagery, moments and memories are revisited, replayed forward, backward, and at a pace that can always be changed.

Limbs shift, sleeves crease, gentle turns are depicted. Subtle nuances are discovered and celebrated in these observations of friends, their lovers, and the self.
