Artist Statement
My paintings are pattern-based still lifes depicting accumulations
of domestic decorations and other clutter. Tabletops crowded
with brand-name foods, products, books, plants, and flowers are
set against abstracted and colorful backdrops and living spaces.
These objects are colorful and exaggerated, and they often
represent items found in my home and art studio. I layer the paint,
creating interesting contrasts in color and style by using a variety
of techniques and mediums. My colors are highly saturated and
presented in multiple patterns. My work often references arthistorically
significant artists and paintings, and nods to other
contemporary artists whose work I enjoy.
