Artist Statement

Intuition, pseudo-psychology, and chance are central to my artistic practice. I utilize the immediate nature of painting in order to limit self-censorship and access my own stereotypes and biases. My subject matter, the female form, deals with depictions of gender, sexuality, and race. I am particularly interested in cultural figures such as Therese Neumann, Dakota Fanning, Lady Gaga, and their effect on our collective consciousness.
