Artist Statement
An onslaught of newspaper articles, obituaries, market reports, and ads are obliterated by mountainous structures in the News vs. Nature series. Organized chaos reigns supreme in an imaginary defense against the psychological toll of bad news.
I work in multiple mediums, frequently incorporating naturally occurring chaotic patterns and/or discarded indexical community remnants gathered from rambles through Houston neighborhoods. Often difficult, these life fragments are repurposed into tangible moments of hope, love, nostalgia, or comfort. My works on paper are often delicate or impermanent, like me.
