My work is a weave of symbols, marks, and colors heavily influenced by digital tropes. In my paintings, I try to create something that hovers between a picture and a sign—it simultaneously invades the space of the viewer and provides a space for the viewer to enter. An icon. I have always been attracted to the artifice of cartoons, computer renderings, asemic writing, motion graphics, dark comics, sci-fi graffiti, and psychedelic graphic design. I approach painting as an autonomous realm where information can become aesthetic and generate meaning that is deep but not explicit.
