Artist Statement
My new paintings are inspired by outdated technologies, such as early video game graphics and old television. I place the work in the crude digital landscapes of Nintendo graphics. My interaction with the picture plane is a direct result of my relationship with the television screen; the paintings have a shallow depth as well as a simple color language. The paintings could be a setting for an action that never takes place, which gives them a sense of implied narrative. They are, in fact, blurred memories of the technologies I grew up with.
