Artist Statement

Auguste Rodin wrote "Nature is the supreme architect. Everything is built in the finest equilibrium."The focus of my artwork is the architecture of nature. Both structural and organic forms are used to create the spirit of the painting.

In my current work, collage paintings are developed evoking the time of day oceanside. The blueprint for my collage paintings involves the following thought process. Particles of water in a wave travel in circles. Ocean waves are repetitive in motion. Thus, the circles create movement. The circles in the paintings are the structural components and the particles are the organic components.

There is a regular daily rise and fall of ocean water (tides). What time of the day is it? My palette communicates the time of the day – oceanside.
