Artist Statement
My paintings and sculptures stem from my interests—ecological
sciences, world-building, and the practice of permaculture. I
use previous works as points of reference for future creations.
Sculptures influence my paintings, and vice versa, as color
combinations bounce between the two- and three-dimensional
realms. I straddle abstraction and figuration, and shift between
the micro and macro, fleshing out what may be difficult to
perceive with the naked eye. Characters within the composition,
once recognized, act as guides through a humorous and often
autobiographical landscape.
