Artist Statement
I’m currently making Introvert and Extrovert paintings relative
to the persuasion of my consciousness. The Introvert paintings,
built with one plastic stick and viscous oil paint, capture my haptic
involvement and record my time of engagement. The current
paintings from this subset are titled The Extrovert paintings are
acrylic, painted mostly on the reverse, with canvas stretched
over wood with tacks. The process of hammering the tacks into
the wood, painting each of the surfaces, and deconstructing
everything is psychical, detached, and engaged. I have to decide
which side of the canvas is the front and back. It can go both ways;
I want to show what’s inside.
