Artist Statement

Sol Summers emerges from the sun-soaked landscapes of Los Angeles, wielding a palette that mirrors the vibrant hues of the American West. His energetic landscapes focus on the desert and the spiritual transformations it symbolizes. In his work he aims to transcend mere representation, seeking instead to capture the feeling of being completely immersed—and subsequently lost—in nature.

“Good art,” says Summers, “is undeniable, like a nuclear siren. It’s an alarm meant to wake us up from the slumber of almost living.”
