Artist Statement
I make fantasy paintings that call forth less-known history,
identity, and geopolitics. My paintings come out of research on
foreign policy, science, and mythology. I create my characters
and settings by drawing from archives, travel, interviews, and
photography of the Pacific Rim. I try to seduce and confuse my
viewers to provoke nuanced and complicated conversations.
